Who am I when everything is SUBMITTED?
I stand in awe as I reflect on how good God has been to me. I am a proud 2014 HBCU graduate from thee illustrious Morgan State University. I am currently the youngest student and soon to be 2017 graduate in the Master of Divinity Program at the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. As far back as I can remember, I use to wonder what was my testimony. I don't have some dramatic or elaborate testimony about how I use to fight all of the time, how I use to smoke & drink, how I use to have sex before marriage, how I've been locked up, how I contemplated suicide, and the list could go on. Let's be clear, I've had EVERY opportunity to do so (especially in undergrad), but I CHOSE not to. At 24 years old I now know what my testimony is. My testimony is God is a keeper. He will keep you IF YOU WANT TO BE KEPT. I've never wanted to do those things, and I still don't. It's not because I'm perfect or self-righteous, but it's simply because that's just how much I love God, and because I love God, I am SUBMITTED. Because I am submitted, I know Him as Jehovah Mekoddishkem, the Lord my Sanctifier. I've had people question my walk with God because of who my friends were and who I hung out with, and people thought there was no way possible I could be a VIRGIN, never smoked, never drank etc., and still befriend certain people. Truth be told, people doubted me because "the struggle was real" for them, and as a result, they couldn't refrain from doing those things themselves. They weren't submitted, so to them, it was impossible. But I'm here as an example to let any and everyone know IT'S POSSIBLE. God will keep you if you want to be kept. I am not blessed because I'm so righteous. I'm blessed because of my submission and obedience to God. I pray a special blessing over each reader. Live a life that honors God. You never know the influence and impact you may have on the people around you and even those who may watch you from a distance. Consider those who will come behind you. Think about the legacy you'll leave. Walk daily in submission and obedience. As Dr. Medina Pullings says, "Submitted power is governed power, and governed power is established power." Be encouraged. Peace. Blessings. Favor.
