Who Am I When Everything Is A Challenge?
Answer: More Than A Conqueror
This past year has been challenging to say the least, I completed my first and last year of grad school, had my first major surgery, consecutive family issues, and it was all in my first year of marriage!!!! Man, I felt like I was being challenged in the very area that God had called me to love, protect, pursue, and honor. I got married on July 18, 2015, I started school in August 2015, I tore my Achilles tendon around September 8, 2015 ( I did not go to the doctor because I am hardheaded until December in which I found out that I tore it), was in and out of the hospital caring for my mother and a cousin for majority of the fall semester, and I had surgery on December 17, 2015 to repair my Achilles.
During this time, I felt like I was being spread thinner then butter on toast! I found myself down, emotional, and ready to let all my responsibilities go. But if you know me then you know it is impossible for me to give up even if that is my only option. I thought about my favorite scripture, Romans 8:31, and how I could apply it to my life currently. " What shall we then say to these things, if God be for us who can be against us?" I thought about my circumstances and my thoughts surrounding them. I thought to myself, hmm... if God is for me who can be against me.... nobody. I began to laugh and realized the things are not happening to me they are happening for me. It was confirmed God did call me to love, protect, pursue, and honor these things and he was allowing me to go through it so I can learn to love my family with Agape love, protect and honor my marriage despite what is going on outside of it and challenge us to lean on one another ( during my surgery and recovery), and pursue school despite distractions and setbacks. Once, I was able to change my mindset and look at my circumstances spiritually, I was able to realize that I had already won.
I received all A's in grad school, my marriage is blessed, I am healing great, my mother and cousin are healing and safe and sound. I boast in my weakness, my doubt, my emotions because that is where God turns it around for me. So when asked "Who am I when everything is a challenge" I answer " More than a conqueror THROUGH JESUS CHRIST"
