Elder Natalie Scott

Natalie Ann-Renee Scott is a wife, mentor, business woman, and most importantly a daughter of the King. She has a heart for God and a heart to help those in need anyway the Lord sees fit. Her greatest joy is to help those who are hurting find their restoration through Jesus Christ. Elder Natalie was baptized and has been a member of St. Luke Cathedral since the tender age of eight and has served under various positions and ministries. She became lay minister in 2009 and was licensed to preach the gospel February 2015 and was ordained December 2017 under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Michael A. Baston and Prophetess Dr. Tasha S. Baston. She currently serves as Youth Minister and Young Women's Ministry leader.

Elder Natalie is the Founder/CEO of Laughing Sarah which is an organization that fosters healing, emotional restoration, education to women and/or married couples who are dealing with miscarriage and infertility no matter their socioeconomic status.

Elder Natalie is a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice where she majored in Forensic Psychology and minored in English. She is also a graduate of Brooklyn College where she received her Master's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a focus in human relations. Elder Natalie is a Human Resources executive and has worked in both public and private sectors for over 15 years with a focus on employee relations and training and development.

What was your inspiration to start such an awesome organization?

God gave me the vision of Laughing Sarah in 2016 when I was going through my own fertility struggles in silence, yet women of all ages were reaching out to me and sharing their experiences, trials, and victories through infertility and miscarriage. I had the vision but it was too painful to address out loud as I was dealing with my own temporary bareness.

Where did the name of your organization come from?

The name Laughing Sarah came from my husband Joe. When God told Abraham that his wife was going to have a baby in her old age she laughed in disbelief, yet I believe she found her restoration after she went through the process of having Isaac. Her disbelief began to be laughter and this ministry/organization is to be a support system so that women and couples can find their joy while they wait for their miracle or to be restored from the loss of their child.

What is one characteristic you believe every leader should possess?

Every leader should possess the "You Can" attitude, that no matter what you face in your organization or how people will or will not support you can make it, if you stay consistent.

What is one of the biggest challenges you believe women in leadership face?

I believe one of the biggest challenges women face as leaders is being their authentic self.  You can still be feminine and firm, confident and not conceited, bold, and not brazen.  As women in leadership be authentic to yourself and your product. Someone is in need of what God gave you.

Can you share a defining moment in your role as the founder of your organization?

December 30, 2016, I was out with a couple of my sister-friends and I decided to share my vision out loud to one of them who happened to be an OB/GYN from California.  When I told her my vision she immediately said, "Nat you have to do this so many women are suffering in silence, and I will help you with whatever you need." Dr. Kendra Segura is Laughing Sarah Partner and deals with the physical aspects of infertility. I have two other partners Dr. Trudy-Ann Gayle-Muller who is our Psychologist who deals with the psychological side of infertility and miscarriage and Minister Delsie Carter is our Holistic Coach and she deals with infertility  and miscarriage from the inside out.  I did not want anyone to feel alone in this journey no matter age, gender, or socio-economic status.
